Founded in 1944, Club Deportivo Colonia Moscardó is one of the most representative sports clubs in Madrid and a historic symbol of the Usera district. Born from the effort and enthusiasm of a group of neighbours committed to the sporting and social development of the Colonia Moscardó, the club began its journey at a time marked by the rebuilding of the city and the growth of the neighbourhoods of southern Madrid.

From its earliest years, Moscardó became much more than a football team.

Its roots in the neighbourhood and the way generations of locals identified with the red and white colours made the club a meeting point for the community and a sporting reference for hundreds of young people who found in football a school of values and coexistence.

During the 1950s and 1960s, as Usera expanded and the Colonia Moscardó grew, the club went through major institutional and sporting growth. Those years laid the foundations of its own identity, defined by hard work, closeness to its fans and a strong competitive drive. The work done on and off the pitch allowed the team to establish itself in Madrid football and take on ever more ambitious challenges.

The golden era

The most brilliant period in the club's history came at the end of the sixties. Under the presidency of Pedro Román Valero, a key figure in building the club, Moscardó enjoyed an extraordinary run that ended with promotion to the Segunda División at the end of the 1969-70 season. That achievement placed the club among the best teams in Spanish football and was one of the most important moments in the sporting history of the Usera district.

Playing in the Segunda División during the 1970-71 season was the culmination of years of work and collective effort. That generation of footballers, directors and fans left an indelible mark on the club's memory and helped raise the Moscardó name on the national football scene.

The Román Valero

The club's stadium, known today as the Román Valero, has had a front-row seat to this journey. Over the decades it has hosted countless matches, celebrations and historic moments that are part of Madrid's sporting heritage. Its stands have brought together thousands of fans and watched generations of players proudly defend the Moscardó crest grow up.

After its historic spell in professional football, the club went on competing in various national and regional divisions, always keeping its character as a close-knit, educational club committed to its surroundings. The academy and youth football have played an essential role in the life of the club, contributing to the sporting and personal development of many young footballers and strengthening the bond between the club and the neighbourhood.

Over more than eight decades, Club Deportivo Colonia Moscardó has preserved the values that inspired its founding: effort, humility, team spirit, a sense of belonging and commitment to the community. These principles have allowed it to overcome the difficulties that come with the passing of time and to face every stage with the same determination that defined its pioneers.

A new era

In recent years the club has entered a new stage of growth and excitement. The return to national football in 2024 was an important recognition of the work of players, coaches, directors and fans, and confirmed the strength of a project that keeps looking to the future without forgetting its roots.

Today, Club Deportivo Colonia Moscardó remains a benchmark in Madrid football and a source of pride for Usera. More than eighty years after its founding, it keeps intact the essence it has had since the beginning: representing its neighbourhood, defending its colours with passion and continuing to write new pages of a story that is part of Madrid's sporting heritage.
