CDC Moscardó 1 - Las Palmas Atlético 2 / BITTER DEFEAT IN USERA: Moscardó stumble against a ruthlessly efficient Las Palmas Atlético

Some afternoons the ball just will not go in, however hard you try. The Román Valero saw a clash of styles in which Las Palmas Atlético knew how to punish our mistakes.

USERA – Some afternoons the ball just will not go in, however hard you try. On Sunday the Román Valero saw a clash of styles in which Las Palmas Atlético knew how to punish our mistakes and defend tooth and nail a lead that, judging by what we saw on the pitch, felt excessive.

A start that left us chasing the game

The match began as expected: Moscardó taking the initiative and the yellow reserve side lying in wait for their chance. However, the Canary Islanders' efficiency was lethal. In barely half an hour the visitors were 0-2 up, which landed like a bucket of cold water on the Usera stands.

Far from giving up, the team showed its grit. We began to gain ground, move the ball with purpose (we finished with 58% possession) and lay siege to the goal defended by Álvaro Killane.

Marouane lit the fuse for the comeback

Our players' faith was rewarded just before half-time. In the 42nd minute Marouane pounced on a ball in the box to make it 1-2. A psychological goal that sent the players into the dressing room feeling that a comeback was possible. The Román Valero roared as it does on the big occasions, pushing its team towards the equaliser.

An unrewarded siege in the second half

After the restart there was only one team on the pitch. Moscardó tried everything: down the flanks, with crosses and with long-range shots. We had the chances, but between the woodwork, the visiting goalkeeper's saves and our lack of accuracy, the equaliser slipped through our fingers.

Las Palmas Atlético settled for clearing their lines and letting the clock run down, taking three points from a stadium where we were better in play, but not on the scoreboard.

Heads up: this doesn't stop here

Despite the defeat, the team showed that it has an identity and never gives up. Losing like this hurts, but the attitude shown is the way back to winning ways next matchday.

Thank you to the fans for cheering until the 95th minute! We will come back stronger!
