CD Quintanar del Rey 3 - CDC Moscardó 2 / HONOURABLE DEFEAT AT SAN MARCOS: Moscardó give their all but go unrewarded in stoppage time

Our team fought to exhaustion on a very difficult pitch. We came back and were within touching distance of a point, but a Quintanar goal in the 96th minute denied Moscardó a reward they deserved for their football and courage.

QUINTANAR DEL REY – Football is sometimes unfair to the team that does the most. Colonia Moscardó returned from Cuenca empty-handed after a 3-2 defeat to CD Quintanar del Rey, in a match we controlled at times and in which our players' faith deserved at least a draw.

An uphill start and Abreu's grit

The match did not start as we wanted. In the 8th minute Dani Jódar put the hosts ahead, forcing us to swim against the tide very early on. But this "Mosca" is not daunted by anything. Far from collapsing, we stepped forward, took control of the ball (55% possession at the end) and pinned Quintanar in their box.

Our persistence paid off in the 21st minute. After a great combination, Mikel Abreu levelled the score, restoring hope to the red and white party. However, the joy was short-lived: barely a minute later Bianco put Quintanar back in front (2-1). We went in at half-time feeling that the score did not reflect what had happened on the San Marcos pitch.

A proud reaction and Mauro Bravo's strike

In the second half Moscardó came out determined not to go home empty-handed. We adjusted our lines, won the individual duels and began to create constant danger down the flanks. Our players' titanic effort was rewarded in the 76th minute: Mauro Bravo finished masterfully to make it 2-2.

With the score level, the team did not settle and went looking for a third, showing that in Usera we know no other way to play than to win. Quintanar were suffering and the point seemed secure at a ground where few manage to take anything.

Cruelty at the very last

But football has a bitter side. Deep into stoppage time, with 2-2 seemingly set in stone, a final home attack ended once again at the feet of Dani Jódar, who scored the decisive 3-2 in the 90+6'. There was no time for anything else.

Heads up, family

It hurts to lose like this, on the last play and after having done the hardest part. But we take away the image of a team that never gave up, that dominated a direct rival on their own ground and that fought for every ball as if it were the last.

The club wants to thank the brave fans who travelled to support the team. We return home angry about the result, but convinced that, playing with this heart, the results will come. Heads up and on to the next one!
